Belarus: Contraction of industrial sector eases in June

Industrial production fell 0.9% year-on-year in June, following a 3.3% contraction in May. The manufacturing and electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply sectors shrank in the month, more than eroding gains made in the mining and quarrying, and water supply sectors. Meanwhile, annual average growth in industrial output fell to 1.9% from 2.4% in the previous month—marking the lowest print since March 2017.FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists project that industrial production will expand 3.7% this year, which is unchanged from last month’s projection. For 2020, panelists expect industrial production to rise 3.5%.
