Belarus: Industrial output posts weakest result in over two years in August
Latest reading: Industrial production fell 0.8% in annual terms in August, following a 0.3% drop in the previous month, marking the second consecutive month of contraction and the weakest reading in over two years.
Relative to the previous month’s figures, the reading for manufacturing production deteriorated in August (-1.2% vs -0.6% in July). In contrast, readings improved for electricity, gas, steam and air conditioning supply (+2.0% vs +1.6% in July) and water supply, sewerage, waste management and remediation activities (-0.2% vs -0.5% in July). Finally, the variation in mining and quarrying was the same as in the prior month (+2.8% in August and July).
