Austria: Inflation accelerates in August from the prior month
Latest reading: Harmonized consumer prices rose 4.1% on a year-on-year basis in August, following a 3.7% increase in the prior month.
Relative to the previous month’s data, there were higher price pressures for transportation (+1.6% vs +0.6% in July) and housing and utilities (+7.8% vs +7.3% in July). In contrast, price pressures eased for restaurants and hotels in August (+5.2% vs +5.4% in July). Finally, the variations in prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages plus recreation were the same as in the prior month (+5.0% and +3.3% respectively).
Meanwhile, consumer prices rose 4.1% year on year in August, following a 3.6% rise in the previous month.
Finally, harmonized consumer prices rose 0.31% in August in month-on-month terms, following a 0.08% increase in the prior month.
