Angola: Inflation slides to a fresh 31-month low in August

Consumer prices in the province of Luanda rose 1.2% in August from the previous month, unchanged from July’s print. According to the National Statistical Institute (Instituto Nacional de Estadística), prices for clothing and footwear, and alcoholic beverages and tobacco posted the largest increases
Meanwhile, inflation in the province of Luanda continued to fall in August. It came in at 19.0% in the month, down from 19.5% in July, marking the lowest reading in just over two-and-a-half years. In turn, annual average inflation fell to a two-year low of 23.5% in August, from 24.1% in July.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists see inflation moderating gradually going forward an expect it to average 23.5% in 2018, which is down 0.7 percentage points from last month’s forecast, and 18.2% in 2019.
