Cambodia - GDPThe economy should continue on a strong growth path supported by increased agricultural production and stronger garment exports as global trade gains momentum. Nevertheless, vulnerabilities in the banking sector have appeared as a byproduct of Cambodia bolstering the economy via over reliance on foreign debt. On the political front, the ruling Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) received 51.4% of the vote in the commune elections held on 4 June. The Cambodian National Rescue Party (CNRP), the main opposition party, garnered 44.2% of the popular vote. Human rights organizations have criticized the elections, alleging that they were neither free nor fair since the CPP controls all election-related institutions.
