GDP in Cambodia
Cambodia - GDPCambodia’s economy is estimated to have grown 6.9% in 2016, thus continuing its strong growth trajectory of the past few years. This solid economic performance was propelled by strong exports, sky rocketing construction activity and expansionary fiscal policy, all of which compensated for lower tourism revenues. Similarly, the trade deficit is likely to have narrowed due to robust garment exports and low oil prices—Cambodia is a net energy importer. Adding to the good news, according to newly released official data, tax collection grew 15% to a record USD 1.5 billion last year. This higher tax revenue was the result of reforms implemented in recent years to improve the tax regime’s efficiency.
