Uruguay: Inflation continues to tick up in January
Consumer prices surged 1.78% over the previous month in January, contrasting December’s 0.10% fall. January’s increase was primarily driven by stronger food and beverage, health and shelter prices.
Inflation came in at 8.2% in January, which was slightly stronger than December’s 8.0% reading. Nevertheless, the trend pointed down slightly, with annual average inflation coming in at 7.7% in January (December: 7.8%).
