Spain: Retail sales growth slows in August
Retail sales rose a healthy 3.2% year-on-year in August, however decelerating from the revised 4.8% jump logged in July (previously reported: +4.7% year-on-year). August’s softening largely reflected a marked deceleration in growth of sales of food and household equipment goods.
On a distribution-based system, growth in purchases at single retail stores, large chains and department stores slowed compared to July, while sales at small chains strengthened in August.
Annual average retail sales growth climbed to 1.7% in August from 1.4% in the previous month.
