Netherlands Consumer Confidence July 2021

Netherlands: Little change in consumer confidence in July; indicator remains in negative territory

July 22, 2021

Consumer confidence came in at minus 4.0 in July, down from June's minus 3.0. As a result, the index remained below the 0-threshold separating pessimism from optimism among consumers. This was mainly driven by a reduced willingness to purchase durable goods, and consumers’ greater pessimism regarding their own financial situation. In contrast, consumers’ views on the general economy improved.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists see private consumption expanding 1.4% in 2021, which is unchanged from last month’s forecast. In 2022, the panel expects private consumption to grow 5.0%.
