Greece: Harmonized inflation declines to lowest level since February 2022 in January
Harmonized inflation came in at 7.3% in January, down from December’s 7.6%. January’s reading represented the lowest inflation rate since February 2022. Looking at the details of the release, prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages and for transportation grew at a softer rate in January. Meanwhile, prices for housing and utilities decreased.
Annual average harmonized inflation rose to 9.4% in January (December: 9.3%). Meanwhile, consumer price inflation edged down to 7.0% in January, from the previous month’s 7.2%.
Finally, harmonized consumer prices dropped 0.47% from the previous month in January, a softer decrease than December’s 0.65% drop.
