Colombia: Pessimism among consumers continues to ease in July
The Fedesarrollo consumer confidence index continued to improve in July, coming in at minus 7.5, markedly up from June’s minus 22.3. That said, the index remained entrenched below the 0-point threshold, indicating pessimism among consumers.
July’s uptick was largely due to the upturn of consumers’ expectations over their financial situation in the coming year. Moreover, consumers turned less pessimistic regarding their current situation compared to the past 12 months, and households became less averse to big-ticket purchases.
