Chile: Business confidence edges down in September
The business confidence index (IMCE), published by ICARE and the Adolfo Ibáñez University, edged down in September, coming in at 50.7 points (August: 51.0 points). As a result, the index moved closer to the crucial 50-point threshold that separates optimism from pessimism among Chilean businesses.
August’s reading was driven solely by worsening pessimism in the construction sector. On the other hand, optimism in the mining and the commerce sectors improved, while pessimism in the industrial sector lowered.
