Taiwán: Inflation falls to over one-year low in May
Inflation ticked down to 2.0% in May from April’s 2.3%. May’s reading marked the lowest inflation rate since July 2021. The decline was broad-based, with reduced price pressures recorded for food, housing, and transportation.
Accordingly, the trend pointed down mildly, with annual average inflation coming in at 2.7% in May (April: 2.8%).
Lastly, consumer prices fell 0.07% over the previous month in May, swinging from April’s 0.76% rise. May’s result marked the weakest reading since February.
