Polonia: Manufacturing PMI ticks up in May
The S&P Global Manufacturing Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) came in at 47.0 in May, up from 46.6 in April. Consequently, the index remained entrenched below the 50-threshold, signaling another deterioration in business conditions from the prior month.
Slower contractions in output, new orders and employment were behind the improvement in the headline reading. On the price front, both input and output prices fell at the sharpest pace on record, partially thanks to easing supply chain pressures. Lastly, output expectations for the year ahead remained in positive terrain, on hopes for stronger demand ahead.
