Vietnam: Inflation rises in February

In February, consumer prices rose 1.33% over the previous month, which was above the 1.25% increase recorded in January. According to the General Statistics Office of Vietnam, the reading was driven by higher prices for medicine and health care.
Despite the monthly price rise, annual inflation edged down from 7.1% in January to 7.0% in February. In addition, annual average inflation fell from 8.3% in January to 7.6%, the lowest level since August 2010.
FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panellists expect headline inflation to average 8.3% in 2013, which is up 0.3 percentage points from last month's forecast. According to the panel, average inflation will accelerate to 8.7% in 2014.
