Vietnam: Inflation drops to lowest level in almost two years
May 23, 2012
In May, consumer prices rose 0.18% over the previous month, which was above the 0.06% increase recorded in April. The reading was driven by higher prices for clothing and footwear as well as for education. As a result of the subdued monthly increase, annual inflation dropped from 10.5% in April to 8.3% in May, which marked the lowest rate since August 2010. As a result, annual average inflation fell from 18.7% in April to 17.6% in May.
