Vietnam: Industrial production slows in November

November 29, 2013

In November, industrial output rose 5.7% over the same month last year, which was slightly below the 5.9% increase recorded in October. The figure was driven by a slowdown in mining and quarrying as well as in electricity, gas and water.

Industrial production expanded 2.6% over the previous month, which was well below the 6.7% increase tallied in October. Annual average growth in industrial production inched down from 5.9% in October to 5.8% in November.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast participants estimate that industrial output will grow 6.0% this year, which is down 0.5 percentage points from last month's forecast. For 2014, panelists expect that industrial production will expand 6.8%, which is unchanged from last month's estimate.
