Vietnam: Industrial production increases in March
March 28, 2013
In March, industrial output grew 5.6% over the same month last year, contrasting the 10.1% drop observed in February. The expansion was broad-based, with all the main sectors improving compared to the previous month.
A month-on-month comparison corroborates the acceleration suggested by the annual data, as industrial production jumped 31.9% over the previous month, which contrasted the 21.3% fall recorded in February. That said, the reading was distorted by seasonal factors related to the Lunar New Year holiday.
FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast participants estimate industrial output to grow 7.6% this year, which is unchanged from last month's forecast. For 2014, panellists expect industrial production to expand 8.7%.
