Vietnam: Industrial production expands in September

In September, industrial output rose 5.6% over the same month last year, which marked an improvement over the 4.4% increase observed in August. The increase was driven by improvements in manufacturing, electricity, gas and water as well as in water supply and waste management.
Industrial production expanded 0.5% over the previous month, which was well below the 2.1% increase recorded in August. Annual average growth in industrial production edged down from 6.3% in August to 5.9% in September.
FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast participants estimate that industrial output will grow 5.6% this year, which is unchanged from last month's forecast. For 2014, panelists expect industrial production to expand 6.9%, which is unchanged from last month's estimate.
