United Kingdom: Industrial production stalls in September
November 8, 2011
In September, industrial production was flat over the previous month in seasonally adjusted terms, which was below both the 0.3% increase observed in August and market expectations of a more moderate 0.1% rise. Compared to the same month last year, industrial output dropped 0.7% (August: -0.9% year-on-year). That said, manufacturing production rebounded in September and added 0.2% over the previous month, ending a three-month streak of declines in output. Market participants' expectations coincided with September's data. As industrial production figures remain weak, the downward trend continued, with annual average growth in industrial production falling from 1.1% in August to 0.7% in September.
