United Kingdom: Industrial production continues to grow in September
November 9, 2010
In September, industrial production grew 0.4% over the previous month in seasonally adjusted terms, which mirrored the previous month's increase (previously reported: +0.3% month-on-month) and was line with market expectations. Despite the monthly rise, growth in annual terms moderated to 3.8% in September, down from August's 4.3% increase. The unchanged monthly reading was the result of a slowdown in manufacturing production (August: +0.4% month-on-month; September: +0.1% mom), which was offset by higher output in mining and quarrying (August: +0.8% month-on-month; September: 1.3% mom). Moreover, electricity, gas and water supply expanded 1.4% (September: -0.2% mom).
