Ukraine: Consumer prices drop in March
April 5, 2013
In March, consumer prices remained unchanged over the previous month, up from the 0.1% decrease recorded in the previous month. The monthly print mainly reflects lower prices for clothing and footwear as well as for food and non-alcoholic beverages, which offset higher prices for alcoholic beverages and tobacco.
On a year-on-year basis, consumer prices dropped 0.8% in March, following the 0.5% fall seen in February. As a result, annual average inflation decreased from a flat reading in February to minus 0.3% in March, which represents its lowest level in more than 12 years.
FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panellists expect inflation to reach 7.3% in 2013, which is down 0.1 percentage points from last month's forecast. For next year, the panel sees inflation moderating to 6.3%.
