Taiwan: Industrial production accelerates in October
November 23, 2012
In October, industrial production expanded 4.6% over the same month last year. The figure was up from the revised 2.9% expansion seen in September (previously reported: +3.0% year-on-year) and overshot market expectations, which had anticipated industrial production would expand 2.6%. The monthly figure reflected a strong expansion in the manufacturing sector. A month-on-month comparison, however, does not corroborate the improvement suggested by the annual figures, as industrial production contracted 1.19% over the previous month in seasonally adjusted terms, which contrasted the 2.84% rise recorded in September.
