Slovenia: Inflation slows in November
November 30, 2010
In November, consumer prices increased 0.3% over the previous month, which was above the 0.1% rise registered in October. The price increase was mainly driven by higher prices for semi-durable goods and for agricultural products. Annual headline inflation dropped from 1.9% in October to 1.4% in November. Annual harmonised inflation (based on the harmonised consumer price index ? HICP) remained unchanged in October at 2.1%. At the current level, inflation in Slovenia is below the 1.9% October inflation rate estimated for the entire Euro area. The Euro area inflation is slowly approaching the 2.0% ceiling set by the European Central Bank (ECB). Nevertheless, amid the ongoing debt crisis, on 2 December, the ECB left the benchmark interest rate unchanged at a historic low of 1.00% for the 19th consecutive month.
