Slovenia: Inflation slows in April

April 29, 2011

In April, consumer prices added 0.8% over the previous month, after the record-high reading of 1.6% registered in March. Higher prices for clothing and footwear prices, due to the change in seasons, as well as for alcoholic beverages and tobacco were the main drivers behind the monthly increase. As a result of the subdued April figure, annual headline inflation moderated from 1.9% in March to 1.7% in April. Annual HICP inflation (based on the harmonized index of consumer prices) also eased from 2.4% in March to 2.0% in April. At the current level, inflation is markedly below the April estimate of 2.8% for the entire Euro area.
