Slovenia: Inflation quickens in December

December 28, 2012

In December, consumer prices dropped 0.3% over the previous month, which was below the 0.1% fall tallied in November. The monthly drop was mostly felt in prices for clothing and footwear as well as for communications.

Despite the monthly decrease in prices, annual headline inflation quickened from 2.4% in November to 2.7% in December. Meanwhile, annual HICP inflation (based on the harmonized index of consumer prices) jumped from 2.8% in November to 3.1% in December, driving annual average HICP inflation in the full year 2012 to 2.8% (2011: 2.1%).
