Slovenia: Inflation eases in August

August 30, 2013

Consumer prices increased 0.3% over the previous month in August. The reading contrasted the decrease of 0.3% recorded in July and mainly reflects higher prices for goods and services (+0.7% and +0.1% respectively).

Annual headline inflation decreased from 2.6% in July to 2.2% in August. Meanwhile, annual HICP inflation (based on the harmonized index of consumer prices) decreased from 2.8% in July to 2.2% in August. Annual average HICP inflation came in at 2.6%, slightly below the 2.7% rate recorded in July.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast participants expect HICP inflation to average 2.0% this year, which is unchanged over the previous month's forecast. In 2014, the panel expects HICP inflation to slow to 1.7%.
