Slovenia: Industrial production records largest drop in six months in February

In February, industrial production declined 1.1% over the same month last year, which contrasted the 4.4% increase recorded in January and marked the lowest rate since August 2013. According to the statistical office, February's drop mainly reflects a sharp deterioration in mining and quarrying as well as a decrease in manufacturing output. In addition, electricity, gas and water supply dipped into the red in February.

On a monthly basis, industrial output fell a seasonally-adjusted 0.7% in February, which contrasted the 0.6% increase tallied in the previous month. Meanwhile, annual average growth in industrial production decreased from minus 0.2% in January to minus 0.5% in February.

FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast panelists expect industrial production to expand 1.4% this year, which is unchanged over last month's Consensus. For 2015, the panel sees industrial output growth accelerating to 2.3%.
