Slovakia: Inflation slows again in February

In February, consumer prices were unchanged over the previous month (January: +0.60%). The monthly print mainly reflects lower prices for clothing and footwear, food and non-alcoholic beverages as well as for furnishing and household equipment.
Annual headline inflation fell from 2.4% in January to 2.2% in February, which represents the lowest level recorded since December 2010. Meanwhile, annual average HICP inflation (based on the harmonized index of consumer prices) inched down from 3.7% in December to 3.6% in January, the latest month for which data are available.
FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast participants expect HICP inflation to average 2.6% this year, which is down 0.2 percentage points over the previous month's forecast. In 2014, the panel expects HICP inflation to inch up to 2.7%.
