November 12, 2012

In October, consumer prices rose 0.3% over the previous month, which mirrored the result tallied in September. The monthly print mainly reflected higher prices for alcoholic beverages and tobacco as well as for clothing and footwear. Building on the monthly increase, annual headline inflation rose from 3.6% in September to 3.8% in October, which represents the highest level recorded since March. Meanwhile, annual average HICP inflation (based on the harmonized index of consumer prices) remained stable at September's 4.0%.
