Slovakia: Inflation eases in July
August 12, 2013
In July, consumer prices fell 0.1% over the previous month, contrasting the 0.1% increase recorded in June. The monthly decrease was driven by lower prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages as well as for clothing and footwear.
Annual headline inflation inched down from 1.6% in June to 1.5% in July, the lowest level since December 2010. Meanwhile, annual average HICP inflation - based on the harmonized index of consumer prices - edged down from 3.0% May to 2.8% in June (the latest month for which data are available).
FocusEconomics Consensus Forecast participants expect HICP inflation to average 2.4% this year, which is down 0.3 percentage points over the previous month's forecast. In 2014, the panel expects HICP inflation to inch up to 2.6%.
