Romania: Inflation jumps in July

In July, consumer prices added 0.59% over the previous month, which contrasted the 0.04% drop recorded in June. The increase was the result of a prolonged drought and a weaker currency, which boosted prices in all categories. Annual headline inflation, jumped from 2.0% in June to 3.0% in July, exceeding market expectations of a 2.7% rate. Annual average inflation, however, inched down from 3.0% in June to 2.9%.
