Romania: Industrial production remains robust in March
May 9, 2011
In March, industrial output rose 9.8% over the same month the previous year. The reading represented a deceleration from February's 12.9% expansion, the first slowdown in five months. A month-on-month comparison corroborates the deceleration suggested by the annual figures. In March, industrial production contracted a working-day and seasonally adjusted 0.8% over the previous month, following a 0.2% contraction in February. Annual average growth in industrial output rose from 6.9% in February to 7.2% in March. The government expects the economy to return to positive growth this year, expanding 1.5% in 2011, before accelerating to 4.5% in 2012.
