Poland: Industrial production slows in December
January 19, 2012
In December, industrial production expanded 7.7% over the same month the year before, which was below the 8.5% increase recorded in November but above market expectations, which had industrial production rising 6.5%. According to the Central Statistical Office (CSO), output increased in a majority of categories surveyed, particularly in the manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products. On a month-on-month basis, industrial production rose a seasonally adjusted 0.9% over the previous month, which was below the 1.6% rise seen in November, confirming the deceleration suggested by the annual figures. The trend continued to deteriorate, with annual average growth in industrial production edging down from 7.3% in November to 7.0% in December.
