Poland: Industrial production rebounds at the outset of the year
February 19, 2013
In January, industrial production rose 0.3% over the same month last year, which contrasted the steep 10.6% decline tallied in December and market expectations of a 3.0% contraction. The improvement mainly reflected a less severe decline in manufacturing as well as a rebound in mining and quarrying.
On a month-on-month basis, industrial production rose a seasonally adjusted 1.5%, which contrasted the 1.9% decrease seen in December. That said, the trend deteriorated, with annual average growth in industrial production falling from 1.4% in December to 0.7% in January.
