Poland: Industrial production accelerates for second straight month
June 20, 2012
In May, industrial production expanded 4.6% over the same month last year, which was above both the 2.8% increase tallied in April and market expectations, which had industrial production rising 2.5%. The result mainly reflected an acceleration in manufacturing production, in particular in the manufacture of chemicals and chemical products as well as of electrical equipment. On a month-on-month basis, industrial production rose a seasonally adjusted 0.1% over the previous month, which was well below the 2.3% expansion seen in April. Despite the increase, the trend continues to deteriorate, with annual average growth in industrial production falling from 5.6% in April to 5.3% in May.
