Poland: Business confidence rebounds in February

February 24, 2011

Business confidence in the manufacturing sector rose in February after deteriorating for five straight months. According to the Central Statistical Office's Business Tendency Survey (GUS-BTS), the industry index for the expected general business climate swung from minus 2.3 points in January to plus 2.1 points in February and settled above the zero-point threshold, which separates pessimism from optimism. The improvement in the sentiment gauge reflected increasing optimism among businesses regarding future domestic and foreign order-books. On the other hand, businesses were more pessimistic regarding their ability to pay current debts.
