Peru: Consumer confidence drops slightly in November

December 3, 2012

In November, the consumer confidence indicator (INDICCA) published by APOYO Consultoria inched down to 54 points from 55 points in October. Despite the monthly drop, the index remains above the 50-point threshold, which indicates that optimistic respondents outnumber pessimistic ones.

The monthly drop mainly reflected households' less optimistic assessment about both the current economic situation as well as their future economic prospects for the next 12 months. Moreover, the November survey also reflected consumers' less optimistic assessment of future job conditions. By socio-economic level, the drop was broad-based, albeit slightly stronger in the upper socio-economic levels.
