October 22, 2011
In September, the Central Bank's business confidence indicator (indice de Confianza Empresarial) rose to 53 points, up from the 51 points registered in August, moving the index further above the 50-point threshold that separates optimism from pessimism. The monthly improvement indicates that a majority of firms was optimistic about future economic prospects for the next three months. According to the September survey, firms' sales expectations for the next three months improved compared to the previous month, as businesses continue to enjoy a healthy financial situation and easy access to credit. Moreover, a majority of respondents to the September survey were more positive about the prospects of taking on more staff in the next three months.
