Mexico: Trade surplus shrinks in April
June 11, 2012
In April, the trade balance incurred a surplus of USD 560 million, which came in slightly below the USD 607 million recorded in the same month last year. The reading also fell short of market expectations that had the trade balance posting an USD 810 million surplus. Exports accelerated markedly, rising 11.6% over the same month last year to USD 31.0 billion, which came in well above the 3.4% increase recorded in March. Meanwhile, imports followed suit and expanded 12.1% to a total of USD 30.5 billion, up from the 3.1% rise reached in the preceding month.
