Mexico: Consumer sentiment decreases
November 4, 2011
In October, the consumer confidence index (ICC, indice de Confianza del Consumidor) dropped to 90.6 points from 92.4 points in September. The reading came in slightly above market expectations that had the confidence index sliding further to 90.1 points, but still represents the lowest level recorded since May. Meanwhile, in seasonally adjusted terms, the ICC increased a 1.8% over the previous month. The rebound was mainly driven by an improvement in the assessment of the current state of the overall economy. In contrast, the willingness to purchase consumer durable goods dropped the most of all five sub-categories.
