Lithuania: Inflation edges down in January
February 14, 2013
In January, consumer prices rose 0.2% over the previous month, which contrasted the 0.1% decline recorded in December. According to the statistical institute, the result was mainly influenced by higher prices for electricity as well as for fruits, which were partially offset by lower prices for clothing and footwear.
Despite the monthly price increase, annual headline inflation edged down from 2.8% in December to 2.6% in January. Meanwhile, annual average HICP inflation (based on the harmonized index of consumer prices) reached 2.9% in December, the latest month for which data are available.
