Lithuania: Industrial production accelerates to 15-month high in August
September 21, 2012
In August, industrial production expanded 10.9% over the same month last year. The figure represented an improvement over the 6.2% rise observed in July and marked, in fact, the largest increase observed since May 2011. The reading was mainly driven by faster growth in mining and quarrying activity as well as an improvement in the manufacturing sector. A month-on-month comparison corroborates the positive annual reading, as industrial production added 4.6% over the previous month in seasonally adjusted terms (July: +4.4% month-on-month). As a result, the trend improved, with annual average growth in industrial production rising from 2.0% in July to 2.4% in August.
