Korea: Industrial production moderates in June
July 30, 2011
In June, industrial production expanded 6.4% over the same month last year, which was lower than the 8.1% increase recorded in May and was slightly below market analysts' expectations of a 7.0% rise. A month-on-month comparison corroborates the moderation suggested by annual data, as industrial production expanded 0.74% over the previous month, which was below the 1.63% increase recorded in May. As a consequence of the slowdown in annual figures, the trend moderated, with annual average growth in industrial production falling from a 10.9% increase recorded in May to a 10.0% expansion in June, which marks the slowest pace in more than a year.
