April 11, 2011
In February, industrial output expanded a seasonally adjusted 1.4% over the previous month, contrasting the 1.7% contraction recorded in January (previously reported: -1.5% month-on-month). The February reading beat market analyst expectations that industrial production would rise just 1.0%. Compared to the same month the previous year, industrial output rose 2.3% on a working-day adjusted basis, improving on January's dismal 0.4% year-on-year increase. Despite the improvement in annual figures, the trend moderated, with annual average growth in industrial production stepping down from 6.4% in January to 6.2%.
