Italy: Industrial production moderates in March
May 10, 2011
In March, industrial output expanded a seasonally adjusted 0.4% over the previous month, which marks a moderation compared to the 1.5% expansion recorded in February (previously reported: +1.4% month-on-month). The March reading undershot market analyst expectations of a 0.8% expansion. Compared to the same month the previous year, industrial output rose 3.1% on a working-day adjusted basis, which was up from February's 2.4% year-on-year increase. Despite the improvement in annual figures, the trend moderated, with annual average growth in industrial production stepping down from 6.2% in February to 5.7%.
