Hungary: Inflation stable within Central Bank?s tolerance margin
October 11, 2011
In September, consumer prices decreased 0.1% over the previous month, which followed a similar contraction in August. As in previous months, the price drop was underpinned mostly by lower food prices, although the price of services dropped as well, thereby offsetting higher prices for clothing and footwear. Annual headline inflation was unchanged from August, at 3.6%. In contrast, seasonally adjusted core inflation, which excludes volatile items such as food and fuel, added 0.1% over the previous month, which pushed the annual rate down from 3.1% in August to 3.0% in September.
