Guatemala: Economic activity remains on track in August
October 8, 2012
In August, economic activity rose 4.1% over the same month last year, according to the monthly indicator for economic activity (IMAE, Indice Mensual de la Actividad Economica). The reading was a notch above the 4.0% rise observed in July (previously reported: +3.9% year-on-year) and marked, in fact, the highest reading seen since December 2007. Owing to the strong August print, the trend is pointing upwards, with annual average growth in economic activity rising from 3.4% in July to 3.5% in August.
