Ecuador: Inflation slows markedly in April

In April, consumer prices added 0.16% over the previous month, which was well below the 0.90% increase observed in March and represented, in fact, the softest monthly rise since June 2011. The deceleration was broad-based as prices moderated over the previous month in a majority of sub-components, particularly in the food and non-alcoholic beverages category. Owing to the monthly slowdown, annual headline inflation fell to 5.4% in April, down from March
