Croatia: Inflation picks up in August
September 15, 2011
In August, consumer prices dropped 0.1% over the previous month, following the 0.5% decrease in July. The monthly reading reflected lower prices for clothing and footwear as well as for communications, which were partially offset by price increases in the transport category. Despite the monthly drop, annual inflation inched up from 1.9% in July to 2.0% in August. Meanwhile, annual core inflation, which strips out more volatile categories such as food and energy, remained subdued and rose 0.1% (July: +0.3% year-on-year). Annual average inflation inched up from 1.9% in July to 2.0% in August, the highest level since February 2010.
