Colombia: Inflation continues to rise and touches Central Bank?s upper limit
November 5, 2011
In October, consumer prices increased 0.19% over the previous month, which was below the 0.31% rise observed in September, but still exceeded market expectations of a modest 0.10% rise. The monthly increase mainly reflected higher prices in the food and health categories. Annual headline inflation increased from 3.7% in September to 4.0% in October, the fastest pace since May 2009. Currently, headline inflation is sitting right at the top of the 1.0 percentage point tolerance margin around the Central Bank's 3.0% target.
